Kumu Ramsay is Back! Here’s your chance to experience Lua, the Hawaiian Martial Art, this June

Once thought lost to antiquity, the secretive Hawaiian martial system involves much more than just combative skills. Lua is a martial art and system that creates new ways of thinking, new ways of being, and new ways of “being present” in times of uncertainty.

Come and learn from Kumu Lua Ramsay as he shares and demonstrates basic principles, concepts and application of this unique cultural battle system.


Kumu Ramsay is the Po'o, head instructor of the Kaihewalu Lua Family System in Hawaii. Trained by numerous kupuna, Hawaiian elders, Kumu Ramsay has nearly 50 years of martial arts experience and served as the Lua technical advisor and stunt performer for the hit series Hawaii Five-0.


All martial arts styles and systems are welcome!



Admission: $35-55 sliding scale Early Bird Pricing (sliding scale) goes up Monday, May 29, 2023


$35 – for College and High School Students (show I.D. @ One Dojo)

$45 – Standard Admission rate for all participants

$55 – Benefactor Admission rate for participants wanting to make an additional gift of support to the Instructor and One Dojo to help continue to bring events like this one to Boulder.

About Ramsay RM Taum


Ramsay RM Taum graduated from the Kamehameha Schools, attended the United States Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs, and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Administration from the University of Southern California. His eclectic background and experience in business, government and community service makes him an asset in both public and private sectors and has been instrumental in for-profit and non-profit business.


Ramsay Remigius Mahealani Taum is the founder and president of the Hawai’i based Life Enhancement Institute (LEI) of the Pacific LLC, Director of the Pacific Islands Leadership Institute (PILI)at Hawaii Pacific University, and Cultural Sustainability Planner at PBR HAWAII & Associates.


Mentored and trained by respected kupuna (elders), Ramsay is a practitioner and instructor of several Native Hawaiian practices including ho‘oponopono (stress release and mediation), lomi haha (body alignment) and Kaihewalu Lua (Hawaiian combat/battle art).
